Writing gave me Anxiety

How do you interpret Derrida’s fear of writing?
-After watching Derrida's video about his fear of writing, it appears to me that this fear is really just a strong burst of creative influence that is filled with passion and emotion making it overwhelming and somewhat frightening to Derrida at times.

Have you ever experienced anxiety about the power of what you write?
-I have often felt anxiety about what i write because when I write I have so many thoughts swirling around in my head all at once, they tend to come out in a long and sometimes very powerful rant. I forget the formalities that belong with writing, and i just let go. And although there is nothing wrong with that, i cant help but fear how readers will perceive my work.

What motivates such fear?

- I believe that such fear is motivated through a creative desire to produce work that will leave readers feeling speechless. No matter what type of writer you are, whatever your topic may be about, all writers really have the same goal..."leave their audience completely speechless and in awe". And although this goal motivates writers, it also creates fear within.

Does Derrida entrust the written word with a particular kind of power?

-I think Derrida gives the written word a certain type of power, because as he mentioned in the video it creates a type of panic over him. So in this particular situation, the power of words causes the him to feel a sense of anxiety as well as a somewhat aggressive standpoint to the audience, depending on how much panic the author is feeling during the time of creation.
